Another iconic London building is the Lloyds building, often referred to as the ‘inside-out building.’ This unique building is home to Lloyd’s of London, an insurance and reinsurance company. The building is located on the former East India Building site which was demolished in 1861. Bowellism then designed and opened the building in 1961, which 25 years later the building was granted Grade 1 listing, the youngest building to obtain this status.
The Lloyds building optimises inside space by placing lifts and ducts on the exterior of the building, generating more space inside.
